Model 1860 Cavalry Saber - 2nd Mass Cav markings and in excellent condition.  The Ames blade is marked US and 1865 with inspector's markings J.C.W. at ricasso.  The opposite side of the blade is marked Ames.  On the inside face of the knuckle bow is a regimental marking 2 MS CAV with identical though faint marking on right side of scabbard drag.  The brass shows an untouched honey gold patina.  The leather grip is nearly 100% with original wire wrap.  The metal scabbard shows a nice even toned patina with two very minor dents close to the drag.  Rounded edge of drag shows some ground wear and rings/mounts show signs of use.
